Super Tuesday Exit Polls Provide Insight into National Mood

Tuesday, February 5th was the largest primary and caucus event in American history, with almost half of all States taking part.

Extensive exit polling gives a representative sample of which candidates are ahead in the race for the Presidency. But it also provides a snapshot of the Nation, reflecting where we, as Americans, stand on the important issues of the day.

Results of "Super Tuesday" exit polls gave some interesting insights into the mood of voters, as the November general election draws near:

Democratic voters who think Hillary Clinton would be the best Commander-in-Chief: 49%
Democratic voters who think Barack Obama is the candidate of change: 69%
Republican voters who think John McCain has the best exit strategy for Iraq: 52%
Republican voters who think Mike Huckabee best represents their values: 39%
Republican voters who think Mitt Romney would best deal with budget deficits: 42%
Voters who think illegal immigration is most important issue: 23%
Voters who think the economy is the most important issue: 49%
Voters who think a brain-dead monkey would be an improvement over George W. Bush: 100%
