Hope, Crosby Families Critical of ABC's 'Road to 9/11'
Los Angeles, CA | The families of Bob Hope and Bing Crosby have weighed in on the controversy surrounding a two-part docudrama aired on television this week.
A spokesman for the families said, "The general consensus is that it the most un-funny 'Road movie' ever made. It completely failed to capture the spirit and energy of the classic comedy team."
After coming under heavy criticism for misrepresenting historical facts, ABC made several last-minute changes to the program. It also aired a lengthy disclaimer, admitting the production had been scripted entirely by the Republican National Committee and none of the technical consultants had ever met Mr. Hope or Mr. Crosby.
The family of Dorothy Lamour was not available for comment.
Work on a follow-up miniseries called The Road to Baghdad, about the bumbling misadventures of Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney, has been suspended indefinitely by the network.
