Paris Hilton Video Resume Sparks New Trend for Job Seekers
Los Angeles, CA | For young people trying to get ahead in today's highly competitive job market, it's never been easier to promote one's abilities.
Gone are the days of snail-mailing multiple hard copies. With most companies now using high speed Internet, a homemade video resume can reach saturation in a matter of days rather than months.
Helen Fellationi, a career consultant at jobfair.org, says, "Employers want to know your specific qualifications. They don't have time to go through a stack of pages cluttered with meaningless self-praise."
If you're an aspiring chef, for example, make a video preparing your signature entree. Or someone adept at auto repair could demo working on a state-of-the-art engine. And if all you're good for is lying on your back with your legs spread, let the world know it.
The recent Paris Hilton video, says Fellationi, was a trend-setting example of how someone should put a positive spin on limited abilities.
"She possesses no worthwhile skills or talent, has great difficulty forming coherent sentences, and apparently needs assistance from Nicole Richie to even walk. But her video proves she could satisfy a prospective employer's requirements... for at least 20 minutes."
