Jokester Who Wanted to See President Clinton, Dies at 68

Washington, DC  |  Lovable Jed Reynolds, who has been taking his early morning walks down Pennsylvania Avenue every day for the last forty years, passed away this week after a lengthy illness.

Frequent White House duty guard, Marine Sergeant Chaz Durocher, recalled the wisecracking Reynolds.

"One day he walked by the front gate and asked to speak with President Clinton," Durocher recounted. "I told him Clinton wasn't President anymore and he just walked away. The next day, we had the same brief conversation again."

The Sergeant continued, "After the third or fourth time I told him Clinton wasn't President anymore, I finally asked him if he might have a little memory problem. Jed said, 'No, I just like hearing it'."

Reynolds, who was on a fixed income and couldn't afford his prescription drugs, died from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
