Shemp Fans Boycott Curly Fries
Los Angeles, CA | Hollywood is still cleaning up after a major brawl last night inside the Maharaja Theatre spilled out into the surrounding neighborhood.
Opposing fan clubs clashed during the Three Stooges 75th Anniversary Film Festival, which many felt focused too much on Curly Howard, ignoring the contributions of older brother Shemp.
The Shemp faction has called for a citywide boycott of curly fries until the oversight is corrected.
"Shemp, not Curly, was the original third Stooge. Anyone with a simple knowledge of history must admit..." insisted one moviegoer last night, just before being hit in the face with a banana cream pie.
Arrests for simple assault - slapping, eye poking and nose twisting - numbered in the hundreds. But in some cases, saws were dragged across the tops of people's heads and ice tongs were used to grab people by the ears. Police also confiscated various mallets, crowbars and tire tools.
There were no reported injuries.
