Stranded in a Convenience Store;
Surrounded by Junk Food and Soda Pop
Imprisoned Customer Survives Ordeal
Woodruff, WI | A homeless man's terrifying nightmare is over after being accidentally imprisoned in a gas station convenience store overnight.
45-year-old "Jimmy" says he was surprised when the lights went out and he found himself alone in a Parkit Market on a lonely Wisconsin side street. "I thought they were open all night," Jimmy explained. "But it turns out they close at ten o'clock."
Jimmy was "resting" between the aisles and went unnoticed in the night manager's haste to close the store and meet friends at a local watering hole. Before Jimmy could reach the exit, the store was dark.
Armed with only his will to live, Jimmy spent the next few hours desperately foraging for nourishment.
"I ate some Slim Jims and pork rinds, but I knew they had very little nutritional value," Jimmy recounted. "I was tempted by a cluster of Twinkies, but I remembered reading somewhere eating too many of them could be fatal." Miraculously, he happened upon a tray of dried-out sandwiches, which he believes saved his life.
"After that, I was so thirsty I was scared I'd faint," he admitted. "Then, way off in the distance I saw a flickering light. At first I thought it was a mirage, but it turned out to be the soda cooler. So I had a couple of Dr Peppers and a Mountain Dew. Then I fell asleep."
When the manager opened for business the next morning at 6 a.m., he found Jimmy sippinga stale cup of coffee and eating a day-old donut. "I was never so happy to see a human face in my life," he declared.
Jimmy said he was more than happy to sweep up the parking lot in exchange for the food and drink he had consumed.
"Now that this whole deal is over, I actually think I gained a pound or two."
