First Miss Penitentiary
Tashkent, Uzbekistan | Over 150 radiant contestant hopefuls from seven Mideast countries participated this month in the First Annual Miss Penitentiary Beauty Pageant.
The winner was Uzbekistan's own Mohammad Muhammed al-Mahammud, known simply as "Fluffy" to close friends. He is halfway through a ten-year prison sentence for speaking to a non-family member of the opposite sex.
The female offender was gang raped and then stoned to death.
To take part in Miss Penitentiary, finalists had to demonstrate their elegance in formal wear designed by themselves, wedding gowns, and the all-important bikini contest. There were no age restrictions, and the contestants ranged from 13 to 87.
Represented in the event were inmates from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Toejamistan, and Wehumpgoatistan as well as the host State of Uzbekistan.
Based on the success of this year's Miss Penitentiary contest, organizers predict it will become an annual event, perhaps eventually expanding to include women's prisons.
