Top 100 Finally Purged of Brit Scourge

New York City, NY  |  For the first time since 1964, Billboard Magazine's Top 100 includes no recording artists from the United Kingdom. And many Americans are saying it's about damn time.

"It took almost 40 years, but I think we can safely consider the 'British Invasion' repelled," declared Jim Halsey, president of Billboard Publishing. "Now we enter a phase of eternal vigilance."

Many are now questioning how so many insidious Royalists infiltrated the music community with such ease in the first place. Halsey replies, "It's tempting to play Monday morning quarterback. But in hindsight, the warning signals were always there. We just didn't connect the dots."

Legendary record producer Sam Phillips later commented, "We stole rock 'n' roll from the negroes, we stole it fair and square. Now that we've whipped the English, we need to go after the Canadians and Australians."
