Bush Reverses Pardon; Executions Set for Christmas Eve

Crawford, TX  |  A long standing tradition came to an end this month when President Bush reversed his temporary stay of execution for two Thanksgiving turkeys named Liberty and Freedom.

The birds will be beheaded and cooked in time for Christmas dinner at the Bush family ranch. This is the first time since World War II that a President has failed to use his power of pardon to halt such an execution.

"Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures," Bush explained. "We are in a war that will not be quick and will not be easy. We must all be willing to give up some rights, in order to preserve some other rights.

"The two individuals in question will be detained indefinitely for security reasons, tried before a closed military tribunal, then served with cornbread dressing and gravy. And maybe some cranberry sauce.

"I believe the American people are willing to accept this."
